π¨ Beware of Phishing Emails!
Scammers are sending fake emails that look like they’re from trusted sources β banks, delivery companies, government bodies, or online shops.
These emails are designed to trick you into clicking malicious links or handing over personal info like passwords, card details, or even your PPS number.
π How to Spot a Phishing Email:
- Urgent or threatening language β e.g. βYour account will be closed!β
- Suspicious sender email address β look closely at the domain
- Generic greetings β like βDear customerβ instead of your name
- Unexpected attachments or links β donβt open them!
- Poor grammar or formatting β often a big red flag
β
Tips to Stay Safe:
- Never click on suspicious links or download attachments
- Verify messages by contacting the company directly
- Enable 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) where possible
- Report phishing emails to your provider (e.g. report@phishing.gov.ie)
